November Extra Credit
Nov 1
2009
During the month of November, students may earn 10 bonus points by making two unique (as in not in the dictionary & you make them up) words comprised of Greek roots and posting them in a comment below with clever, dictionary-like definitions.
Each word must must contain at least two roots, but three is better.
At the end of the month, classes will vote for the most clever, funny, well-defined, real-sounding word. The student whose word wins will receive an additional 10 points.
To get the extra credit please complete the following steps:
- Fill in the comment form that appears after clicking on “comments” below. Then post your words with definitions.
- Please “sign” your comments with your first name and class period.
- You do not need to print anything out. Mr. Williams will track the comments and put in your extra credit automatically.
The purpose of this exercise is for students to learn how to add comments in a discussion thread. I wonder if we’ll have online discussions in the future?
Also, if you have a suggestion for extra credit for December and I use it, and I’ll give the student who makes the suggestion 10 points. Please email me the suggestion: MrW.PVHS at gmail.com
This extra credit is only good from 11/1/09 to 11/3o/09 and will count on 2nd quarter.
Reminder about extra credit: Mr. Williams records all of your extra credit, but none of it becomes part of your grade until the last day of the quarter. For your extra credit to improve your grade, you must first have a passing grade (60%) on the regular work. (Honors students must have at least 70%.)
