ExtraCreditSignDuring the month of September, students may earn 10 points of extra credit by registering for a Twitter account and following Mr. Williams’s English class account.

To get the extra credit please complete the following steps:

  1. Get your parents’ permission to start a Twitter account.
  2. Using your email address, create a Twitter account at Twitter.com.
  3. Find and follow Mr. Williams at MrWatPVHS, which is the account for class specific information.
  4. Print your Twitter homepage, just the first page, and print your real name and class period in the upper right-hand corner.
  5. Click here and print this page. (The link takes you to the specific entry for this extra credit, so it might not look like anything changes on your screen.)
  6. Staple the two pages together, Twitter homepage on top.
  7. Give it to Mr. Williams before or after class.

Students may also want to follow Mr Williams here, where he comments generally about school; and students should also follow the PVHS Student Council for updates about school activities.

This extra credit is only good from 9/1/09 to 9/30/09

Reminder about extra credit: Mr. Williams records all of your extra credit, but none of it becomes part of your grade until the last day of the quarter. For your extra credit to improve your grade, you must first have a passing grade (60%) on the regular work. (Honors students must have at least 70%.)

Since we are working on research papers this month, getting a public library card is a worth-wild endeavor. Actually, using the library is ALWAYS worth-wild, and we have a pretty nice library here in Pahrump.

Go to the Pahrump Community Library with your parents and get your own library card.

Show the card to Mr. Williams, with your legible signature on the back, and voila: 10 extra credit points.

Note: Access to the online subscription databases paid for by the state and county require the full number on the back of the library card.

Sincerely,

Mr. W.

Let’s try something new.

Starting in 2009, I will be offering 10 points of extra-credit per month for an activity outlined on this website. I’m always getting asked for extra-credit, and I’m always encouraging students to check this website for information.

I’m hoping that offering extra-credit this way will encourage students to peruse the resources on this site and force me to keep this site active with new information. :)

For the month of January, students can earn 10 points by…

  1. clicking the title of this entry, so only this entry is on the page,
  2. printing this page,
  3. writing his or her name on printout, and
  4. turning the printout in to Mr. Williams before or after class.

…not exactly difficult.

Caveat: No photocopies, all printouts must be originals with headers from the web browser.

Happy New Year.

-Mr. W.
